For building & planning information such as zoning, land use, and how to get a building permit, please visit the Town of Pagosa Springs or Archuleta County websites, depending on your site location. Both sites include the Land Use Code and Zoning information, as well as applications for building permits.

Creating a Business Plan
One of the most critical activities you can partake in to get your business on the right start is the creation of your business plan. Please see our Business Plan section for more information.

Having a membership with the local Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Archuleta Economic Development Association is one of the best ways to accomplish this. Obtaining a Business License
The Town of Pagosa Springs requires a business license. Archuleta County does not. Please go to the town’s website to download the application if your business location will be within the town limits.
Be sure and check the state licensing database website as well to be sure your business does not require any special state licensing.
Occupational Wages
It’s always hard to determine what salary range should be paid to your employees. Download the latest CO Western region salary survey information here (XLS) .
Sales Tax License
If you will you be selling, renting or leasing tangible personal property, you will need a Sales Tax License. Obtain a Sales Tax License by filling out form CR100 at the CO Department of Revenue website and sending to address on the form. Cost is $16 for application plus a $50 deposit you will get back after first $50 of sales tax collected.

Trade Name Registration
The Colorado Secretary of State website will register your business name with the state. You can also do a trade name search on this website to see if your name already exists.
