Water/Wastewater
Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District (PAWSD) is a quasi-municipal corporation and a political subdivision of the State of Colorado and encompasses approximately 78 square miles, including the Town of Pagosa Springs and surrounding areas.  The District provides water service within its boundaries and wastewater service primarily to the areas west of Pagosa Springs.  Presently, the District’s raw water supply is approximately 2,881 acre feet with a treated water demand in 2006 of 1,819 acre feet.  Enlargement of Stevens Reservoir is anticipated which will provide an additional 1,200 acre feet of storage.  Water treatment capacity is 6.2 million gallons per day.  Sewer treatment capacity is 4 million gallons per day, with current capacity of approximately 65%.

  • Water -  5/8” meter           $1,230
  • Wastewater – 4” pipe        $395 per connection

Capital Investment Fee

    • Water:                      $3,579 per E.U.
    • Wastewater:             $4,252 per E.U.

Water Resource Fee: $5,617 per E.U.
• 5 Year - 5% per annum Amortization for the Water Resource Fee, upon request at time
of assessment.

Pagosa Springs Sanitation General Improvement District (PSSGID) provides sewer service for certain properties east of Piedra Road.  The District has a 0.48 Mgd capacity and we are nearing full capacity.  They are in the planning phases for a new mechanical treatment plant that when completed will have 1.0 Mgd capacity, with expansion up to 4.0 Mgd.  They plan to break ground in January of 2008 and be complete by years-end.  The District is managed by the Town and the Town Council acts as the governing board.

Water Storage
The San Juan Water Conservancy District’s mission is to conserve, maximize and utilize the water resources of the San Juan River and its tributaries, and that property within the District will be benefited by this purpose. Another primary function of the SJWCD is to address future water supply needs within the District. The highest priority of the SJWCD is to provide water for the health and welfare of its constituents. Visit their website at http://sjwcd.org.
